Hens & Your Garden
Before you keep hens in your garden, you really need to consider the effect the hens will have on the garden. A couple of hens allowed out for a few hours won't cause much of a problem but when you've a dozen hens and two ducks in a small garden, things can get out of hand.
If you want to keep your hens happy then providing a good environment for them will go a long way to that. Happy hens may have the odd squabble but bored and unhappy hens are far more likely to engage in pecking each other and, make no mistake, they can severely injure or even kill other hens.
One things hens do like is to have a dust bath. Our first idea for this was to provide some but, as you'll see our plan didn't work and they made their own.
