Experience with chickens:

Hi I'm Janet Hargreaves welcome to your first step towards the enjoyable world of chicken keeping. I run beginners chicken keeping courses from my home in Berkshire just off the A4 between Maidenhead and Reading not far from junction 10 M4.

I have a mixed flock of 15 hens ranging from hybrids to pure breed large fowl,to little bantams and Friesen Fowl.

I have experienced the ups and downs of chicken keeping the best type of experience you can have. I have researched chicken health and treatments and attended courses. I also work with a free range poultry breeder in Reading one day a week where I have gained invaluable experience.

I have been running courses for the last year and they are proving very popular I have had some excellent feed back.

Chicken Keeping Group Courses Information

The course is very informal and hands on. The course is held in my home outside mainly undercover in my large covered walk in runs and purpose built summer house. This enables the courses to continue in all weathers !

There is a maximum of 4 people on the course it runs for three hours with a break for tea and home made cake or scones with home made jam and lemon curd made with my own eggs of course!
