Chicken Keeping Courses Information

This poultry course is held on the first Saturday of every month at Holme Farm Poultry, Kirton Holme, Boston. Holme Farm Poultry have been breeding poultry for many years and currently stock over 50 rare breeds. This hands-on practical workshop starts at 10:00am and finishes at 3:00pm and is open to everyone from those thinking about starting out with poultry to those who already have some experience. Topics covered will include:

Different breeds for different needs
Housing
Feeding
Sickness and medication
Equipment
Breeding

Delegates will be shown around the farm and given plenty of opportunity to handle the birds, practice giving medication, look at a variety of suitable housing, have a tour of the incubation sheds and brooder shed. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout the day.
