Experience with chickens:

Formerly an agricultural college tutor and on farm assessor with one of the country's top land based colleges, a full scale mixed farmer, on farm advisor and self sufficiency lifestyle follower of almost 25 years in both upland mountainous and lowland situations.

I now deliver a range of Courses on self sufficient living and becoming a Smallholder from my own self-sufficient rural Smallholding home on the coast of East Yorkshire.

These days I keep hens & bantams only for their eggs (and entertainment!) but have previously kept both chickens and geese for meat also.

Over the years I've kept many different breeds and types of chickens in all the possible housing and free range maintenance systems and I've now settled on the system that works best for me, fulfils the hens needs by keeping them healthy, happy, stimulated and safe plus encourages good egg productivity.

I'll both explain and show you HOW to keep and handle your 'happy & healthy' hens and explain WHY this instruction works and WHAT is likely to happen if you don't follow the advice.

You can ask as many questions as you like and having taught agriculture to teenagers at college there is nothing you can ask that I will think silly or embarrassing!

You can either attend a (Short) 3 hour dedicated Hen Keeping Course OR purchase your very own Private Bespoke Full Day Course where you can include other areas that interest you from: Making your own yummy sausages, Pig Keeping, Smallholder Livestock
