Low Cost Hen Housing

As with any hobby, you can spend a fortune if you're not careful. However keeping a couple of hens need not cost you much at all. Here in my daughter's garden, she's converted a rabbit ark bought for £40.00 into a chicken coop.

A little bit of money for some weldmesh and staples has ensured the chicken ark is fox proof, so keeping her hens safe. She uses it for young chicks and small growers but you could actually keep a couple of hens or possibly 3 bantams in there.

Adding in a few pounds for drinkers and feeders means you can start keeping hens for under £50.00 - less if you're good at carpentry and make your own coop from scrap wood.
